HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY EVERYONE!!!
^^^ (I’ve been there!) ^^^
Today is our Nation’s Birthday, and on this day, I’m spending it with my loved ones…which is pretty awesome! We went to the park for a little bit during the morning. Cindy practiced riding her balance bike, while MHG tore up the slide and swing sets. Eventually, my Mom babysat Cindy for me, so I could take MHG on a date to go see “Maleficent” in theaters. *Side note* I haven’t stepped foot in a Movie Theater in almost 2 years! Anywho, it was lovely getting some one-on-one time with my eldest kiddo. It’s a pretty rare occurrence these days…yes, even though we homeschool. Homeschooling doesn’t count. Papoo and Nonnie got a break from all of us girls and I’m pretty sure they got a nap, too!
After the movie, MHG and I drove back to my Mom’s to pick up Cinderella. There was time for a quick selfie with my Mama and a short conversation…after all, I did just get a good 2 weeks straight with her! My Mom's visit with us.
Then, it was back to the in-laws for my one and only drink of the night. Nic finally got into town after his 7 hour drive and he was lookin’ to see a couple of his buddies. I offered to drive, since I was certain there would be drinking with them.
I made Ma and I Mimosas! Holy delicious, too!
After our drink, we were treated to the sight of a gorgeous and PERFECT double-rainbow, as well as a magnificent sunset. What a breathtaking sight to behold! A perfect birthday gift to our country.
After we put the girls to bed and left them with Nonnie and Papoo, we headed over to see Pip, who was dog-sitting for his friends.
I got to see the fireworks going off all over the city from their back porch! That was pretty amazing!
After we bid Pip farewell, we headed over to our buddies the Mac’s for a quick visit, too.
They were partying with their neighbors and the teenagers were playing with their own fireworks.
I got to see some up close fireworks after all!
I was a bit perturbed however, because Cinderella kept waking up and I had to drive the 20 minutes up to Nic’s parents, not once, but twice to put her back to sleep. (I’m one of the only people on the planet that can put that stubborn angel to sleep.) After returning from my 2nd trip to get her to bed, I had to unfortunately bid my bestie and her honey farewell and drag Nic away from there, unwillingly. Papoo had called to tell me she had awoken again…for her FOURTH time. She really just did not want Mommy to leave her.
Alright Cinderella…point taken. We said our goodbyes and headed back up North.
The following day, having Daddy back with us, we decided to spend the day together-just us 4. We opted to go for a drive through the Garden of the Gods…one of my most favorite places in this beautiful country. That was a pretty dumb idea, though. It was a holiday weekend and about a zillion other people had plans to visit there as well.
You can see Pike’s Peak behind and to the right of the Garden of the Gods red rocks.
Kissing Camels from behind.
Another side note: My new phone isn’t too shabby taking pics. Thank you HTC One M8! All I pretty much cared about on our recent trip to get new cells…was having a good camera. I’d say it works GREAT for landscape and non-moving shots…but isn’t too fab for moving targets, in my opinion.
After we drove out of the park, we happened upon this guy with the world’s largest hitch ball, lol!
Nic took me to my favorite store in the world-Celebration’s Metaphysical Store in Old Colorado City!
I got myself a couple little things that shouldn’t impact our living in an RV.
A tiny statue of Isis, Mother Goddess and Goddess of Magic-to aid in my rituals…
…and a sweet little pocket coin to stay in my wallet.
It invokes memories of my drumming days and reminds me to stay wild, free and true to myself.
Of course no family day would be complete without a quick trip to the girls’ favorite store: Toys ‘R Us.
They each got a couple small toys and they got to ride with Spiderman.
We came back home after a long day of togetherness and family fun. While they played in the freezing cold pool with Nonnie and Papoo, Nic and I readied our bags for our trip back home in the morning. I eventually donned my bikini and froze my butt off as well, but don’t worry, I won’t force that scary visual on you, lol!
What a great day! It was a wonderful time, just the 4 us, and ending it with Nonnie and Papoo made it even better. We’re sad to be heading back home to New Mexico tomorrow…but duty calls. It was a fabulous week with Nic’s family and even getting to see a few of our friends real quick was great!
We are looking forward to seeing you all again really soon! At some point, we have to bring back up our 2nd grade curriculum and put it in storage. Gotta make room for 3rd grade! Woohoo!
