Leaves And Leaving Virginia

It has been a fabulous 5 months staying at the Americamps RV Resort in Ashland,Virginia…but now it is time to say goodbye.

Goodbye beautiful state full of huge glorious Oak trees. Goodbye to all the colors…greens, reds, oranges, yellows and purples as far as the eye can see! Virginia is such a beautiful state. Words seriously do not do it justice…even the pictures really don’t do it justice! Goodbye to the short 2 hour ride to the beach…I’ll miss your salty sea air and crashing waves. Most importantly though, goodbye to all the friends we made. The ladies in the office and management became a second family to us while we were there. They looked after us, always tending to our every need. Their devotion to Americamps RV Resort and the people that stayed there went above and beyond the call of duty. They were friends and extended family and we will miss them beyond words.

My daughter and I even made 2 good friends while we were there, on top of the ones I just mentioned…Lisa, thank you for your friendship. I enjoyed learning new ways of child-rearing from you…after being a nanny for over 20 years, how can you NOT want to learn from someone that amazing! It was lovely having someone to talk to, even complain to when my internet life was so “dramatic”…I realize how silly I must’ve come off to you…sorry about that. It was wonderful to find someone with similar interests as my own and now that we’ve settled in here, I really hope to finally try out that almond milk recipe you gave me…although I should probably buy a blender first…

Thank you for allowing your beautiful daughter to befriend mine. She was such a well-mannered, splendid little girl and nothing but a good influence on her. It’s so hard these days to find friends for my children that aren’t butt-heads…did I just say that? Our last day at the park with you guys, jumping in at least a 150 sq ft pile of leaves that started out over 6 feet tall, was one of the most joyous times we’ve had there! Talk about a wonderful way to go out with a bang, haha! I felt like a kid again!!!

It was time for Minnie, Terrie and James to join in the fun first! It was a fun time, to be had by all, for sure! I loved seeing everybody's excited expressions on their faces and hearing all the joyous laughter! It was so contagious!

We had intended to leave really early that day, but as the day progressed, I had to squeeze in a last couple of loads of laundry, goodbye pictures with everyone, Nic had to work-shipping more stuff back to corporate headquarters, and then there was that giant leaf pile that I just mentioned that caught our immediate attention. Oh, and then there was the actual “let’s screw around while Nic breaks camp” that always happens at the last second…

Everything happens for a reason though. We finally pulled out at sunset, and leaving that late caused us to miss traffic by a hair.

Terrie, James, Minnie, Earl, Jeff, Kevin, Mike, Lisa, Skyler and our neighbor Mike…we miss you all and we’re so grateful that you all were brought into our lives at just the right moment. This was our first time full-time RVing away from our friends and family. It was a very intimidating and scary experience for us at first, but all of you took the fear and intimidation out it and made it perfect! We couldn’t have asked for a better first time place to go. There were a lot of tears from us as we pulled out, but that just speaks as to how wonderful of a place Americamps was and what fabulous friends everyone grew to be. Thank you all for everything!!! We love you all!

RVA Skyline

Here’s Richmond’s skyline at sunset. We had an incredibly easy drive out of Virginia, but North Carolina was entirely a different story…
